UPDATE: Friends, Penny and Payton's files have been sent back to their home country! They can still be adopted, but their information is no longer on Reece's Rainbow, so the only way their families will see it is my blog and past posts on others! Please, please, share this post! I am extending my giveaway to Saturday at noon! Please email Shelley Bedford at shele337@gmail.com for more information on these precious children!
I'm going to tell you a little story today. I don't know the ending yet, but I'm sure hoping it's ". . . and they lived happily ever after." It all depends on you.
Once upon a time, three little babies were born in an Eastern European country. They were as cute as can be, just like every newborn is. They were completely dependent upon their mamas and daddies, just like every newborn. But these babies were a little different. Two had cerebral palsy. One had hydrocephalus. There were other issues I'm sure. And then tragedy struck for these newborns. Their mamas and daddies couldn't keep them. Maybe their mamas and daddies were scared and didn't think they could handle their needs. Or maybe they were poor and thought the babies wouldn't get the care they would need. Whatever the reason, these babies were abandoned at the hospital, never to know the feeling of being held or loved or the sweetness of a mother's milk or her smile.
Time passed and they were taken to the their local orphanage. This was a very bad place. Children were hated, especially those who were different. The three little babies were placed in cribs and left there. They were taken out once a day for a diaper change. Other than that they laid in their cribs, in their own wastes, until their bodies were covered in rashes and sores. They were fed once a day from an old beer bottle that was filled with a flour and gravy mixture. They were never told they were loved or special; never held; never received any therapy or medical treatment; never had their teeth brushed; never saw the sun or went outside. Never. The children remained small and weak so that they didn't cause any trouble.
So the children slowly got older, but didn't grow much. They remained the size of babies because they were starved and unloved. But enter the Hero to the story! There was a great King who loved the children and was determined that they would not die alone in their cribs. He sent people into the orphanage who really SAW what was happening and who fought with all their might to save them. Very slowly, families started to come for the children, families who didn't care that the children were different. But for the three children in our story, no family has come. So that's where you come in! These three need for all of us to rally around them and find their family. Their files will only be with their agencies for a short time and then their chance of finding a family decreases. Please help me find them a family so I can type those magical words ". . . and they lived happily ever after."
Here are those precious three children who need families:
Penny
Princess Penny is such a fighter! Despite the fact that she has lived in the orphanage for a long 11 years, she survived! She weighs a measly 21 pounds, but would gain weight so quickly once she were home. She smiles, she loves despite what has been done to her. The Hero of our story has great plans for this one. Don't you want to be a part? If so, please click on the link above or contact Shelley Bedford at shele337@gmail.com
Payton
Prince Payton is very dashing! He has suffered from severe malnutrition and weighs just 17 pounds at 8 years old. Please contact Shelley Bedford at shele337@gmail.com.
Adam - UPDATE!
It appears that Adam has a family! They could use some financial help rescuing him. Please see their blog here: http://grumpyjax.blogspot.com/2012/08/adoption-on-move.html
